Participants must be a current or retired, publicly employed, uniformed member of a Fire Department from Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Arkansas, or Louisiana. All participants should have their Fire Department issued ID with them at their event in case of questions regarding their eligibility.
NEW Additional Eligibility: There will be a two year trial (2008 & 2009 Texas Firefighter Olympics) to allow State Commissioned Firefighters that are not a current or retired publicly employed, uniformed member of a Fire Department to participate in selected sports and/or events. Commissioned Firefighters will need to contact a sport’s coordinator to verify their eligibility BEFORE traveling to the Olympics. Commissioned Firefighters may be asked to present their Commissioned Firefighter’s ID card to the sport’s coordinator prior to participation. Commissioned Firefighter’s eligibility is strictly at the coordinator’s discretion of their respective sport/event.
